He was a Kashmiri folk singer, before he founded his pro-India militant outfit, ''Ikhwan-ul-Muslemoon'' that targeted top pro-Pakistani militants. His death was considered a major blow to the security forces against terrorism in Kashmir. The then Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, described the killing as "a setback to the peace process". As per Imtiyaz Ahmad Parray son of Mohammad Yusuf aka Kuka Parray, Kuka Parray saved Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone ‘from the wrath of public when he was caught exploiting a woman’. Kuka Parray's son Imtiyaz Parray is a pro-Indian congress worker now. ==Death== Parray was on his way to inaugurate a cricket match in Hajin Sonawari, District Bandipora of Jammu and Kashmir state, when hiding militants opened fire on his car.
